  1. Many speak of the crap that came out of the eighties. “Steppin’ Out” was one of the diamonds in the rough of that decade. Easily one of the best singles to grace the era of Reagan. There’s a timelessness to it that much other music of that era lacks.

    I was a high school senior in 1982, and was burned out on the mainstream music of the time. I started college that fall, and
    “Steppin’ Out” was like a breath of fresh air on the radio. For me, it signaled a musical change for the better. It also signaled the end of much of the tired AOR and bland Adult Contemporary sludge that was being produced at the time.
